Oleum Testa

'Oleum Testa' - Oil and Shell in Latin. The amphora shape is an ancient storage jar used to carry oil at sea. It lies next to the mussel shell and paint pot - it is so still but full of anticipation of becoming a working object once again, being useful and brought to life. The mussel shell is of the sea and the paint pot with brushes the fulcrum of continuation.

Raw pigment, oil and gesso on board in antique frame.
