Öldur

Looking out to 'The Stones' an area of natural reef between St Ives and Godrevy. The waves (öldur in icelandic) swell and engulf the mussel beds below my feet - all purple shells on ochre agate veins within volcanic rock. This place reminds me of the volcanic landscape of Lanzarote and Los Hervidores (the boiling pots) with its chasms and fissures stripped by the battering ocean. Oil and gesso on board in antique frame.
