Luce Prima - Daybreak
Part of the series of Sunflower paintings tracking the light from dawn to dusk. The sunflower field epitomises the cycle of life and light at every stage. Helianthus ‘annus'. The name is derived from the Greek words Helious, meaning sun, and anthos, meaning flower, thus the name sunflower. The opalescent pale yellow lights of daybreak, the colours of the stems are desaturated and the cadmium yellow of the sunflowers heads unfurl as they begin to wake and lift their heads to the rising sun.
