Chloris

Part of my 'Garden Series' working direct from life in the garden, direct impression, sunshine and mark making, a mysterious landscape of breathy air mellow through the new summer flowers. The shape of a shrub prop in the pots. Chloris was the goddess of flowers, a Nymph of the Islands of the Blessed. She was the wife of Zephyros (the West-Wind). Chloris becomes the Goddess Flora. "As she talks, her lips breathe spring roses: I was Chloris, who am now called Flora." Ovid Mixed mediea work on mdf 82 x 122cm
