Calle Del Filosi in Venice near Campo San Polo is a tiny dusky red high walled street wide overlooking the most striking deep lagoon emerald Merchants doorway with what looks like a disused space behind - above the doorway are balconies full of geraniums celebrating 'a Venetian lives here!' and Gondoliers smooth past on the milky turquoise waters that cut through. The colour and light of this place are such that your eyes are bleached on first impression - all you can make our is this faded impression before your eyes are filled with colour from from the illuminated light and the shade.
