BACCHUS

"An Annual Pilgrimage to Remind Me" is the title of the exhibition this work is part of. I call it Bacchus, because Bacchus was the God of the Vine, winemaking, wine alongside ritual madness and theatre! The landscape depicted is the vineyard "La Geria" region of one of my favourite places in the World - Lanzarote. The landscape is red, filled with heat and energy and the surface scattered with these 'c' shaped delves in the earth surrounded by small volcanic lava stone walls and containing lucious green vines with abundant grapes. The land feels cool at the Volcano tops and red and full of passion at the lower earth surface and below.
