Portus meaning harbour, or port, a haven or retreat. Dusk light and milky Spring sunshine illuminate St Ives harbour sands. The silvery light and great marks slice through the sand. Pools of water still, reflect.

I always imagine lemon trees lining craggy sea cliffs and edges. Somehow the sound of the sea always resonates in my ears when I see them. A celebration of life, of perseverance and freedom! Solis Occasum translates to 'sunset' in latin. The phrase "A solis orate usque ad occasum" roughly translating as 'from sunrise to sunset'.

The dramatic seas at Godrevy beach, St Ives peninsular hangs in the background. The foreground is peppered with ancient medieval storage jars used to carry precious oils and spices across continents. The sea brings many treasures.
