Irori (Shoji + Irori Diptych)

'Irori' is the sunken hearth in Japan used to heat the home and cook food. I imagine steam and smoke, this sacred space of fire. Here the Frejús jar (earthenware pottery) is almost invisible, forming in the bright light like smoke signals from the stove.
