Flora

Part of my 'garden series' - direct, raw impression of a layered newly blooming landscape. Here you can make out the dark soil in terracotta pots in the garden, little delicate flowers of the the likes of Verbena catching the light. In Roman mythology, Flora was a goddess of flowers and the season of spring. Her festival, the Floralia, was held between April 28 and May 3 and symbolized the renewal of the cycle of life, drinking, and flowers. Work on plywood 82 x 119cm.
